My name is Holly Dee Cunningham, and I am a wedding & portrait photographer based in Wollongong who is head over heals in love with her camera.

My focus as a photographer is to capture people as naturally and comfortably as possible, so that the memory and emotion attached to that photo is meaningful and true to them as an individual.

Enjoy my blog posts and thanks for visiting!

Pre-Wedding Portraits | Killalea

On the afternoon of Mother’s Day, I met with Lillian, Andrew and Lillian’s two gorgeous daughters for a quick pre-wedding session. We were rudely interrupted by Mother Nature half way through, but the rain did make for some quite nice shots before it got a bit too chilly to stand in! We only had half the time I usually have for portrait sessions, but what the session allowed me to see was how affectionate and cheeky Andrew and Lillian are, and how comfortable they are with each other. All Lillian needs to do to put a smile on her fiance’s face is giggle, and coincidentally the thing that made Lillian giggle the most was Andrew’s smile… so all in all it was a lovely session filled with lots of giggling. I can’t wait to photograph their wedding next month – they are a beautiful couple and their happiness is contagious!:)

Nadia + Lee’s Wedding | 12 May 2012

Nadia and Lee are the absolute definition of love. They are completely in love with each other, and they are the sweetest couple you could ever meet (and happen to have an adorable little son who lights up their world). I was so excited to see Nadia walking down the aisle with her Mum and brother to one of my most favourite songs ever – ‘Come Away With Me’ by Nora Jones. The ceremony was relaxed and emotional, and Lee was handed a number of tissues throughout the ceremony by Wayne the celebrant! Nadia and Lee planned the wedding to be intimate, laid back and romantic – and the whole day was just perfect. According to the vows they wrote themselves, they both knew from the moment that they met that they would be in each others life forever – a real life love at first sight moment. I feel so privileged to have been a part of such a beautiful wedding with such a fantastic family, and I know that Nadia and Lee will have the happily ever after that everybody dreams of. Congratulations again to the (very, very!) happy couple:)

Rylee | 9 Days Young!

10 days ago, the cutest little fella came into the world (fashionably late)! A couple of months ago I met Jess and Paul, who were preparing for parenthood and were as excited as can be (see the maternity shoot here). Rylee is the most perfect newborn, and just like every baby I come across he was wide awake for the majority of the session yesterday, even after two feeds. He loves cuddles from his mum and dad and has the most gorgeous pixie ears I have ever seen. Jess and Paul are so at ease being parents, and they are just as affectionate and adoring of each other as they are of little Rylee. I am so lucky to have met Paul, Jess and Rylee – they are amazingly warm people and I enjoyed every minute of both of our sessions. Jess + Paul – congratulations again on having such a beautiful baby boy, and I hope you love your photos! Xx

Therase + David | Pre-Wedding session

When I first met Tharese and David, I was really excited to photograph them because they have a kind of electric chemistry with each other. You know without a doubt that they were made for each other, and so I am super excited to photograph their wedding in June! I met with them along with two of David’s sons (who were great location scouts and had an energy that I was jealous of), at Wollongong Botanical Gardens this afternoon, and although it had been a beautiful weekend it started raining as soon as I arrived (typical!). What I wanted from this session was to let them interact with each other so that I could capture them as naturally as possible, and use that to work into the wedding photographs. David is cheeky and playful, and Therase is so relaxed and just gorgeous, and they didn’t need much direction from me at all. I love couples that are comfortable with each other and are comfortable being themselves around other people, and I thoroughly enjoyed our session. Here are some of the photos of the lovely David and Therase!:)

Extended Family Portraits | Wollongong Botanical Gardens

Today I had the pleasure of spending the afternoon with a really lovely family – 3 adult siblings and each of their families. To say that they were a lovely family is an understatement, really, they were so easy going and friendly and I enjoyed every moment with them. They trusted me when I told them to fake laugh until it turned into real laughs, and they jumped up and down behind me and gave out lots of bribes to get the attention of the little kiddies (I hope that they had lots of chicken nuggets and frog lollies at home!). A group of young kids together for family portraits is never as easy as you would think – but they definitely weren’t difficult, because they were all super cute. I am really thankful to have been contacted by this awesome family to do their portraits, and hope that they love their preview!:)
